Telford Bike Hub is set to showcase a new range of adaptive bicycles, thanks to substantial funding from Telford & Wrekin Council and Sport England. This latest initiative introduces trikes, tandems, and wheelchair loader bikes equipped with various levels of assistance, including hand bikes and carer-controlled functions, designed to accommodate individuals who find traditional bicycles challenging.
The new adaptive bikes will be featured at Telford Bike Hub on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to see live demonstrations and test out the bikes. A dedicated team will be available to offer guidance and support in selecting the most suitable bike for individual needs.
Councillor Carolyn Healy, cabinet member for climate action, green spaces, heritage, and leisure, expressed enthusiasm about the launch. “We are excited to introduce these new adaptive bikes to our community just in time for the summer holidays and the upcoming Paris Olympics,” Healy said. “Cycling is an excellent way to stay active and explore our local green spaces, particularly around the town park. Our commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion is reflected in this initiative, as we strive to make biking more accessible and provide opportunities for all residents to participate and thrive.”
