Cyclists Cross the U.S. to Advocate for Poverty Alleviation

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – On Thursday, July 18, a group of cyclists made a notable stop in Charlottesville as part of their cross-country journey aimed at combating poverty.

Their tour, dubbed ‘Pedaling to End Poverty,’ is a nationwide initiative designed to spotlight the SEED Poverty Alleviation Program at Utah State University. This program is renowned for its effective educational model that equips students with valuable job and career skills.

Beginning their trek in Oregon, the cyclists have traversed the nation, making various stops to engage with media and promote their cause. Cyclist Mike Glauser highlighted the significance of their mission: “We’re conducting media interviews across America to showcase an educational model that significantly enhances students’ career prospects. The program provides excellent job skills, leading many to secure rewarding positions and start successful businesses, making their college experience immensely worthwhile.”

Currently on the 45th day of their 47-day tour, the cyclists are set to conclude their journey this Saturday in Yorktown, Virginia.
