July 10, 2024 – Kalispell, MT — This summer marks a significant collaboration between DREAM Adaptive Recreation and Backcountry Xperiences, aiming to elevate motorized water sports programs and offer inclusive outdoor activities.
Backcountry Xperiences has committed over $40,000 in in-kind contributions, including boats, coaches, and safety jet skis, to support DREAM’s motorized water sports events on Echo and Whitefish Lakes. This substantial support extends to DREAM’s biking and paddle sports programs, ensuring participants enjoy barrier-free adventures both on water and trails.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with Backcountry Xperiences,” said Julie Tickle, Executive Director of DREAM. “Their innovative approach to making outdoor recreation accessible and their dedication to safety align perfectly with our mission to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities through outdoor activities. The growing demand for our transformative services is met with generosity like this, allowing us to significantly subsidize our programs and impact more lives safely and thoughtfully.”
Backcountry Xperiences, a newly launched outdoor adventure organization, shares this enthusiasm. “Teaming up with DREAM Adaptive Recreation is a fantastic way for us to give back to the community and share our passion for outdoor adventure,” said Sean Lujan, Co-Founder of Backcountry Xperiences.
DREAM’s Family Watersports Week is scheduled for July 16-19 at the Thompson Family’s private residence on Echo Lake in Bigfork. The event from July 16-18 welcomes individuals ages five and up, along with their families, including those with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities. July 19 is exclusively reserved for Military Veterans and their family members.
Activities will encompass water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and boating, featuring a range of standard and adaptive equipment. No prior experience is necessary, as trained staff and volunteers will provide support and instruction.
Additional individual watersports skills days will be hosted on Whitefish Lake on July 31 and August 7 and 14. Pre-registration is mandatory for all participants, family members, and volunteers.
