Last Wednesday, Jubilee Park was abuzz with activity as the Weyburn Police Service hosted a bike rodeo aimed at teaching children the essentials of biking safety. The event saw an enthusiastic turnout with 134 young riders eager to learn how to navigate the city’s streets and parks safely.
Upon arrival and registration, participants were given instructions on the proper way to wear a helmet and ensure their bikes were in good working condition. The event featured a series of educational stops along the park’s paths, each focusing on a different aspect of bike safety.
The 14 stations covered crucial skills such as using hand signals, obeying traffic signs, riding on various terrains, maneuvering through obstacles, and maintaining control of their bikes. Each station offered practical lessons that emphasized the importance of safety while biking.
The event culminated in a prize giveaway, courtesy of the Weyburn Police Association, with five lucky riders receiving new bikes from Canadian Tire. To wrap up the day, all participants enjoyed a free barbeque, celebrating their newfound biking knowledge and skills.
