SilverStar Mountain Resort in Vernon faced an unexpected twist on its opening day for mountain biking season as fresh snowfall blanketed the slopes on Saturday, June 15. Despite the surprise weather, enthusiastic riders turned out to mark the start of the resort’s 30th biking season.
However, the resort made the decision to close on Sunday due to heavy snowfall in the forecast and accumulating snow on the trails. It plans to reopen on Friday, June 21 for the official bike park opening.
Looking ahead, SilverStar’s Bike Park Opening Weekend promises a variety of events including the Slay The Dragon Trail Running Race, Solstice Sips, and live entertainment featuring Thunderclap, October Poppy, Brass Camel, and headliner Jesse Roper.
Throughout the summer, the Silver Star Saturday Music Series will entertain visitors with local and headline acts every Saturday afternoon from June 22 to September 14 at the Nokian Community Stage, sponsored by Local Losers.
Art enthusiasts and nature lovers can also enjoy the artistic bear installations around Brewer’s Pond on the Bear Byway Trail, crafted by renowned British Columbia artists and supported by the Silver Star Bear Stewardship Group.
Moreover, SilverStar continues to expand its offerings with a new accessible hiking loop opening at the top of the Gondola, promising stunning vistas and enhanced nature experiences for guests.
