Park City Biking Stores Gear Up for New Season

by Alice

As temperatures rise in Park City, cyclists are eagerly gearing up for another season on the road, gravel, and mountain trails. Local biking stores are buzzing with activity as enthusiasts dust off their old equipment and seek out new gear, from bikes and helmets to shoes.

Among the stores gearing up for the season is Park City Bike and Demos. The shop, located just outside downtown Park City, underwent significant changes last fall, including the hiring of General Manager Ian Rugaber in November. With a strong sales background, Rugaber assembled a new sales team with the goal of transforming the shop into Park City’s premier destination for bike repairs.

On a typical Tuesday afternoon, the team at Park City Bike and Demos, all avid cyclists themselves, were busy at work repairing bikes. The store boasts a wide inventory of new equipment and ample space for essential repairs, ensuring cyclists can hit the trails with confidence.

“Park City is a mountain biker’s paradise,” Rugaber said. “We have over 550 miles of singletrack right here in Park City, making it an incredible place to ride, no matter your preference.”

Park City Bike and Demos caters to a diverse range of cyclists. With specialists in both mountain and road biking on staff, the shop plans to organize community group rides this summer, fostering a sense of camaraderie among local riders.

Recently, the store hosted an open house featuring biking films, food, and drinks, attracting a lively crowd of cycling enthusiasts. Rugaber hopes to see more cyclists visiting his and other local stores to upgrade to safer, more advanced helmets and bikes, noting that helmet technology can become obsolete every three years.

A highlight for the store is being the exclusive retailer of Transition Bicycle Company in the Wasatch Back. This Washington state-based company is renowned for its innovation and technology in mountain biking.

“For soft goods, we carry Smith and Fox Racing,” Rugaber said. “We’re thrilled about Transition and their fantastic lineup and contributions to cycling.”

Rugaber also appreciates the supportive cycling community in Park City. He enjoys how riders are always willing to share trail and gear recommendations.

“There are so many trails here, so don’t hesitate to ask questions,” Rugaber advised. “Everyone has their favorite trail.”

Other notable bike stores in Park City include Banhof Sports, JANS Mountain Outfitters, and Contender Bicycles, all of which contribute to the vibrant local cycling scene.
