Queensland Tourist Hotspot Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Camping

by Alice

Noosa, a renowned tourist destination on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, is intensifying its efforts to combat illegal camping by implementing stricter measures. Vehicles parked overnight at a popular beach lookout are now subject to towing.

Noosa Council reports a significant increase in tourists illegally parking their campervans overnight at the nearby national park, which offers stunning ocean views and prime surfing access. Despite existing bans and fines, officials believe more stringent actions are necessary to address the issue.

Illegal campers frequently leave behind litter and generate excessive noise, disturbing local residents. In response, the council has designated nine popular beachfront car parking spots near the national park as tow-away zones from 10pm to 4am, aiming to enforce the regulations more effectively.
