A family in Delaware is fervently seeking the return of their son’s adaptive bicycle, specially crafted to accommodate his unique needs, after it was pilfered from their backyard.
The bicycle holds significant importance for the family, as it was tailored specifically for their son’s special challenges. The mother, Paula Broody, undertook efforts to reclaim the stolen item and is now appealing to the public for assistance in locating it.
Recalling the incident, Broody recounted an encounter on Thursday along Governor Printz Boulevard near Claymont, Delaware, where she spotted a group of young men riding bicycles that she recognized as her own. Reacting swiftly, she approached the individuals, causing them to hastily abandon the bikes and flee the scene.
Despite managing to deter the thieves, Broody’s relief was short-lived. Due to the size of her son Bryce’s three-wheeled bicycle, she encountered difficulty in transporting it back home. Consequently, she opted to conceal it in a nearby wooded area temporarily. However, upon returning to retrieve it, she found the bicycle had vanished once again, leaving her dismayed and uncertain as to the circumstances surrounding its disappearance.
The family’s primary concern remains the safe return of the bicycle, which serves as a vital tool for Bryce’s engagement and integration within the community. Describing the significance of the bicycle in Bryce’s life, Broody highlighted its role in fostering his independence, social interactions, and overall well-being.
The stolen bicycle is described as a yellow three-wheeled tricycle, featuring a wire basket adorned with red reflectors. Anyone with information regarding its whereabouts is urged to contact the New Castle County police.
While the non-profit organization that originally provided Bryce with the bicycle is no longer operational, its founder has expressed willingness to assist in procuring a replacement if the stolen bicycle is not recovered promptly.
As the family anxiously awaits the return of Bryce’s cherished bicycle, they remain hopeful that the collective efforts of the community will lead to its swift recovery, thereby reinstating a source of joy and empowerment for their son.
