Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include a wide range of water-based pastimes, from traditional rowing and sailing to modern activities like paddle boarding, wake surfing, and knee boarding.
The official opening of the centre in the mid-1980s was marked by the presence of the minister for sport. This milestone coincided with notable events in pop culture, such as The Flying Pickets topping the charts with “Only You” and the imminent launch of the Macintosh personal computer by Steve Jobs in the US.

Low Wood Bay’s commitment to watersports is deeply rooted in its history. Norman Buckley, great-great-uncle of current managing director Ben Berry, made significant waves in the 1950s by setting four world water speed records on Windermere with boats he designed and constructed himself.
