For some, camping is not the ideal vacation choice. The great outdoors, communal facilities, and shared amenities can be daunting, especially for more sensitive travelers. Taking it a step further, imagine enjoying a camping holiday completely in the nude. Yes, nude camping, or FKK, is indeed a trend, even this summer.
This was the decision made by Mandy and Christian from Thuringia, who opted to spend their holiday au naturel at an FKK campsite in Italy. It seemed like a logical choice, given Italy’s long and warm summers. However, what they didn’t anticipate was the language barrier in Italy.
Upon arrival at the “Campeggio Naturista Villaggio Pizzo Greco” in Capo Rizzuto, they were greeted warmly by a receptionist speaking fluent Italian—a language neither Mandy nor Christian were proficient in. This became evident as the Thuringian couple expressed their frustrations on camera for the Kabel-1 documentary series “Yes we camp.”
“I found it really alarming that they started bombarding me with Italian without even asking if I speak Italian or English,” complained the Thuringian camper. Indeed, it seemed audacious that they hadn’t learned German just for him.
Despite the initial shock and communication difficulties, the couple’s apprehensions seemed to dissipate after the first encounters. While their initially rented camping accommodation didn’t meet their standards, a quick complaint led to an upgrade to a bungalow. This upgrade came at a higher cost but offered better amenities and even a sea view.
With that settled, the holiday could finally begin. Off came the clothes, and into the sun they went.
