In recent years, Wales has solidified its status as a key player in cycling, with the country hosting the first two stages of the 2023 Tour of Britain Women and the Tour of Britain Men.

Rebecca Evans, the Welsh Government’s cabinet secretary for economy, energy, and planning, highlighted the significance of the agreement, noting that the National Championships’ return to Wales, coupled with the historic inclusion of the 2027 Tour de France, cements the country’s position as a premier destination for elite cycling events.

The 2023 British National Road Championships were held in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire, where Ethan Hayter (Soudal Quick-Step) and Pfeiffer Georgi (Picnic PostNL) took the top honors in the elite road races. Anna Henderson (Lidl-Trek) and Josh Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers) triumphed in the time trials.

Further details on the routes for the 2024 championships in Aberystwyth will be released in the coming weeks, according to a spokesperson for British Cycling.
