Ineos Grenadiers Search for New Sponsor

by Alice

Ineos Grenadiers are actively pursuing a second sponsor as part of efforts to re-establish themselves as one of cycling’s dominant “super teams,” it was revealed Friday.

John Allert, the British WorldTour team’s CEO, confirmed that the team will continue beyond 2025, extending into the 2026-2028 WorldTour cycle. Allert emphasized that the team’s budget growth depends on securing additional financial backing.

“We are fortunate to have owners who are deeply passionate about the sport, personally involved, and still eager to remain part of it,” Allert said during a press conference, according to Cyclingnews. “They have had opportunities to step away but choose to stay engaged.”

Allert acknowledged that Ineos does not intend to increase their current level of spending. “It’s clear that the team cannot achieve super team status with the current budget, which is why we are looking to bring other partners on board,” he explained. “We’re in the process of discussing commercial opportunities and exploring potential partnerships.”

While rumors of potential buyers or investors have circulated recently, Allert dismissed them, emphasizing that the team is focused on its own strategy of seeking a secondary sponsor. “It’s a crowded market, and we haven’t signed any new partners yet,” he added. “Our approach is an evolution, and we’ve appointed an agency to help us identify the right commercial partnerships.”

Despite a challenging 2024 season, in which the team secured just 14 wins and saw the departure of star rider Tom Pidcock to Q36.5, Ineos Grenadiers remain committed to returning to the top of the cycling world. The team also underwent a management reshuffle at the close of the year.

Kurt Asle Arvesen, the team’s newly appointed lead sports director, remained optimistic about the future, acknowledging the difficulty of winning one of cycling’s three Grand Tours. “We need to come back and start winning races, every race counts,” he said. “It may take a few years to return to Grand Tour victory, but I’m confident we will get there.”
