Former surfing champion Alana Blanchard, a social media pioneer and a notable figure in the World Surf League Championship Tour (2011-2014), is set to tackle a new challenge on Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. The Kauai surfer, who has also become a mother and wife to ex-CT star Jack Freestone, will be a key participant in the reality series’ third season.
Blanchard’s casting was recently revealed alongside a star-studded lineup that includes former NFL quarterbacks Cam Newton and Golden Tate, Olympic athletes Marion Jones and Nathan Adrian, motocross icon Carey Hart (also known for being married to singer Pink), and actor Stephen Baldwin, among others. Reality television personalities Denise Richards, Trista Sutter, and Ali Fedotowsky will also join the ranks. While Blanchard stands out as the lone surfer in the group, she will compete alongside 15 other recruits, including Brody Jenner, husband to professional surfer Tia Blanco.
The series, filmed in Wales, UK, challenges contestants with grueling tasks based on the actual selection process used by Special Forces. Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test is set to premiere on Fox on January 8, airing weekly for five episodes.
With her history of fearless surfing in Hawaii and resilience through personal challenges—such as supporting her childhood friend Bethany Hamilton after the shark attack that cost her an arm—Blanchard is expected to excel in the physically demanding environment of the show.
