As the French might say, “je me casse”—roughly translated as “I’m out there.” It’s a fitting sentiment, capturing the spirit of the season in France, where pro surfers flock to the coastline for the annual Quiksilver Festival, a mix of beachbreaks, surf sessions, and late-night revelry.
While the waves offered plenty of opportunities with peaks stretching along the Hossegor shoreline, riders had to battle through lingering hangovers to catch the prime early morning conditions. From the hustle on the sand to the glassy barrels in the water, photographer Ryan “Chachi” Craig captured the essence of fall in France with stunning shots from all angles—beneath the waves, on the beach, and from above.
