The Gudauskas brothers have once again partnered with Hobie Surf Shop to host a surfboard drive aimed at supporting the impactful work of Native Like Water. The event, set for Saturday, November 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Hobie’s San Clemente location, seeks to gather new or used surfboards, leashes, fins, and boardshorts to benefit the organization.
Founded nearly 25 years ago, Native Like Water offers a wide range of programs to Native American teens and young adults in California, Mexico, and beyond. These initiatives focus on rekindling cultural connections to the ocean while promoting conservation, health, wellness, and education. Through activities such as scuba certification, cultural exchanges, and scholarships, the organization has made a significant impact in the lives of youth participants.
“It’s incredible to see how the program helps kids flourish in the ocean,” said Dane Gudauskas. “What Native Like Water offers is rooted in deep experience and knowledge, creating a spiritual connection that resonates with the participants. We’re truly honored to be part of their mission.”
The Gudauskas brothers, through their Positive Vibe Warriors Foundation, have long supported surf-related causes around the globe by hosting surfboard drives. Their efforts have benefited communities in South Africa, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and beyond. The foundation’s success is driven by the simple truth that many surfers have unused boards collecting dust. The drive offers an opportunity to give these boards a second life, enabling others to experience the joy and transformative power of the ocean.
The upcoming surfboard drive marks a return to the Gudauskas brothers’ grassroots roots, as they continue to balance their growing families with their commitment to giving back. While they’ve spent recent years focused on fatherhood, they’re excited to support Native Like Water and contribute to the organization’s mission of empowering youth.
“Giving a kid a surfboard and watching them take to the water—it’s truly magic,” Dane said. “There’s nothing quite like it, and we’re proud to help make it happen.”
The event at Hobie Surf Shop offers surfers an opportunity to donate gear that will make a lasting impact. Whether it’s an unused board or extra gear, every contribution helps provide young people with the tools to connect with the ocean and foster personal growth.
As the Positive Vibe Warriors return to the surfboard drive scene, the hope is that the event will inspire even more surfers to get involved and make a difference in the lives of young ocean enthusiasts.
