Salomon, the French brand renowned for its mountain sports gear, has marked its debut in the UK with the opening of two stores in London. The brand, which specializes in apparel, footwear, and equipment for a range of outdoor activities such as running, hiking, skiing, and snowboarding, has set up its first flagship store in the country in Covent Garden.
The new 3,268 sq ft flagship is located at 125 Long Acre, within The Yards, St Martin’s Courtyard. The store features a comprehensive selection of Salomon’s products, catering to outdoor enthusiasts and athletes alike.
In addition to the Covent Garden store, Salomon will also be launching a ‘Sportstyle’ concept store in Soho later this month. This 1,500 sq ft location, at 18 Broadwick Street, will primarily focus on the brand’s footwear range and further enhance Soho’s reputation as a hub for high-end international retail. The store’s proximity to other premium brands, including Axel Arigato, PANGAIA, and Adidas Originals, underscores the area’s appeal as a destination for exclusive shopping.
Jamie Thipthorpe, Asset Management Director at CBRE, representing Longmartin Properties, commented on the new openings: “Salomon’s decision to open its UK flagship at The Yards in Covent Garden strengthens the area’s position as a prime destination for top-tier brands. The store’s focus on customer experience is in line with The Yards’ ethos, and we are thrilled to welcome Salomon as part of our growing community of leading sporting and athleisure retailers.”
He added, “We are confident that Salomon’s innovative approach will resonate with our visitors and further enhance the appeal of the area.”
William Oliver, Retail Leasing Director at Shaftesbury Capital, also expressed excitement about Salomon’s Soho store: “The introduction of Salomon’s Sportstyle concept to Soho is a major addition to the area. We are continually seeking retailers that offer something distinct and complementary to the existing mix of brands. Salomon is a perfect fit, aligning with current consumer trends while adding to the diverse, globally recognized retail offering in Soho.”
Oliver highlighted the ongoing trend of international brands choosing Soho to launch new concepts in the UK, noting that Salomon joins a growing list of prestigious names, including Axel Arigato and Aime Leon Dore, in reinforcing the area’s reputation as a lifestyle retail destination.
Pascal Clausse, Vice President of Global Retail for Salomon, expressed his enthusiasm for the UK launch: “We are thrilled to open our first Salomon brand stores in the United Kingdom. London, a city known for its strong connection to both the outdoor and fashion worlds, is the ideal location for our continued retail expansion. These openings follow successful launches in key global cities such as Paris and New York, and we are excited to bring Salomon’s dynamic brand to UK customers.”
Salomon’s London openings are part of a broader global retail expansion, which includes recent store launches on Paris’s iconic Champs-Élysées and in New York’s SoHo district.
