Matilde Lorenzi, a talented 19-year-old Italian skier, has tragically died from injuries sustained during a training accident in northern Italy, as confirmed by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) on Tuesday.
In a statement, the FIS expressed its deep sorrow over Lorenzi’s passing, noting that she suffered a fatal fall while training on the Grawand G1 slope in Val Senales.
Following the incident, Lorenzi was airlifted to a hospital in Bolzano, but unfortunately, she could not recover from her injuries. The national defense ministry announced her death, revealing that Lorenzi was affiliated with the Italian army.

She also participated in the European Cup circuit and was crowned the Italian junior overall and Super-G champion in the previous year. Her sister, Lucrezia, has made her mark in the slalom, competing in the World Cup series.
