A prominent German neo-Nazi has died following a hiking accident on Untersberg mountain, believed to have been a favored location of Adolf Hitler.
Andreas Münzhuber, 37, a senior member of the Bavaria faction of the far-right group The Third Way, fell nearly 200 feet while on a guided tour of the mountain on September 29. Reports indicate that Münzhuber tripped on a wet root, leading to his fatal descent of 196 feet down rocky terrain.
Untersberg, rising to nearly 6,500 feet, was known to be one of Hitler’s preferred views, with the dictator having constructed the notorious Eagle’s Nest retreat nearby. The area has since become a site of pilgrimage for far-right extremists.
In the wake of Münzhuber’s death, various right-wing extremist groups on platforms like Telegram and Facebook have initiated fundraising efforts to establish a memorial stone at the site of the accident and provide financial support for his wife and child.
“We are all deeply affected by his passing,” reads a statement on the fundraising page. As of now, the initiative has successfully raised over $7,000 for the memorial, while a separate campaign has garnered more than $13,000.
