Bethany Hamilton’s Nephew Hospitalized Following Near-Drowning Incident

by Alice

Bethany Hamilton shared distressing news on Instagram yesterday, revealing that her 3.5-year-old nephew, Andrew, was airlifted to Kapiolani Medical Center in Oahu after a near-drowning incident. In her post, Hamilton urged her 2.4 million followers for assistance, stating, “HELP… My precious nephew was medivaced after drowning last night. He still has a heartbeat and fight in him. We are wrecked. But I know how proper medical support can make or break someone’s chance of survival.”

Shortly after her plea, a user named Alyx Harch responded, offering a connection to her father, Dr. Paul Harch, a renowned expert in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for adolescent drowning cases. Hamilton expressed gratitude and reportedly reached out to Dr. Harch for guidance.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but Hamilton’s brother, Noah, later explained that Andrew was found unresponsive in the shallow water of a bathtub. He emphasized Andrew’s resilience, describing him as a strong swimmer. “He’s 3.5 going on 5… His vitals were enough to get him to Oahu,” Noah wrote on Facebook.

In a subsequent Instagram update, Hamilton reflected on her decision to go public, explaining, “I didn’t want to go to the public in the first place, but I knew it could help him by getting more support and knowledge.” She thanked her followers for their love and support, noting she would limit her posts moving forward.
