In the world of electric mobility, a shift is emerging among manufacturers, particularly in China, where electric mopeds have traditionally prioritized practicality and functionality. Many of these vehicles have become standardized, catering to the basic transportation needs of everyday consumers. However, recent years have seen a shift in consumer preferences, with growing demand for higher-quality products that emphasize individuality and innovation. Consumers now seek more than just affordability—they want a blend of style, technology, and personality in their purchases.
SUNRA, a leading electric mobility manufacturer in China, has answered this call with the MIKU-Retrolax, a retro-futuristic electric bicycle designed for those who appreciate unique aesthetic sensibilities. This model bridges the gap for individuals who love the robust appeal of heavy-duty motorcycles but are cautious about the safety concerns associated with them. With the MIKU-Retrolax, SUNRA pays homage to the retro culture beloved by niche communities while embracing a free-spirited, adventurous lifestyle.
The design of the MIKU-Retrolax draws inspiration from the rugged, powerful bobber motorcycles of the American tradition, but with a modern twist. The bike’s magnesium-aluminum alloy frame significantly reduces its weight to just 42kg (without the battery), making it light and portable—ideal for those who enjoy outdoor activities like off-road cycling. In an industry first, the Retrolax features a four-link shock absorption system, providing a smoother ride. Coupled with a front and rear hydraulic disc brake system and a 750W motor, the bike’s range is increased by 50%, offering both power and stability. The 48V 20Ah automotive-grade ternary lithium battery (NCM) is easily removable, enabling riders to charge it anywhere. With a top speed of 32km/h and a maximum range of 65km, the Retrolax is well-suited for daily commuting.
As part of the MIKU series, the Retrolax inherits the core features that have made this family of electric vehicles a standout. The C-class LED ambient headlights and high-definition LCD display ensure that riders have full control, even in low-light conditions. For uphill rides, the bike’s five-speed power adjustment makes climbing easier, offering a hassle-free journey. Additionally, the adjustable handlebar and leather saddle, which can be moved to suit riders of different heights, provide enhanced comfort for a broader range of users.
Certified by both CE and UL standards, the MIKU-Retrolax comes in two versions: one with a 500W motor and a top speed of 25km/h, and a more powerful model with a 750W motor and a maximum speed of 32km/h. These certifications, along with the bike’s distinctive design and performance features, mark a significant step for SUNRA as it strengthens its position in the European and American electric bicycle markets.
