Both the University of Missouri’s men’s and women’s golf teams secured top-10 finishes, with individual players also making the top 10 after Round 2 of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
After a challenging first round, which saw the men’s team finish last among 10 teams with a 16-over 304, Mizzou rebounded with a strong performance on Tuesday. The Tigers shot a 298 in Round 2, improving to eighth place overall. Missouri now trails first-place LSU by 20 strokes.
Leading the men’s team were Veikka Viskari and Virgilio Paz, who both shot even-par 72 in the second round. Viskari’s strong play pushed him up the individual leaderboard from 25th to 10th. Paz, who had been tied for 29th after Monday’s round, is now in 14th place.
On the women’s side, Missouri struggled to improve on its first-round score, carding a 309 on Tuesday and sitting in eighth place overall. The Tigers are 37 strokes behind the leader, Arkansas.
However, not all was disappointing for Mizzou. Ffion Tynan continued her impressive showing with a second-round score of 74, placing her in fourth individually. Meanwhile, teammates Fleur van Beek and Addie Dobson both showed improvement. Van Beek posted a 75, while Dobson shot a 78. Van Beek is currently in 39th place, with Dobson in 42nd.
