Silk Road Mountain Race has started in Kyrgyzstan. More than 170 people from 35 countries are taking part in the competition.

The route is 1,938 kilometers long with an altitude gain of about 30,460 meters and runs through mountain passes, picturesque valleys, Son-Kul, Chatyr-Kul, and Issyk-Kul lakes.

Silk Road Mountain Race is a multi-day mountain bike race for endurance. The route changes every year, but the specifics remain the same — it runs along mountain paths and old roads.

Recall, the participant from Germany will dedicate his race to children with cancer in Kyrgyzstan. From August 17 to August 31, Patrick Mayerle from Ravensburg is participating in the Silk Road Mountain Race in the country. Together with the charity organization Umai — Hilfe für Kirgistan e.V (Stuttgart, Germany) and Pomogat Legko Foundation (KR), it is planned to raise money for medicines for children.
