Eastfield and Filey’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) are intensifying efforts to curb dangerous off-road biking at the Dell Nature Reserve, Eastfield, in response to growing community concerns.
On July 18, officers seized an off-road bike from a rider during a search of the nature reserve, marking a significant step in their ongoing campaign to address the issue.
PC Waterman of the Eastfield Neighbourhood Police Team emphasized the seriousness of the situation: “Our team is working diligently to tackle this problem, which is reported to us almost daily. However, we depend on the local community to report incidents and alert us when bikes are being ridden dangerously.”
He highlighted the risks posed by such activities: “Riders often fail to realize the dangers they create by speeding on footpaths. This behavior is particularly hazardous during school holidays when young people are enjoying these green spaces.”
PC Waterman assured residents of their continued commitment: “The local community should feel safe, and we will persist in targeting offenders to prevent these risks.”
