Anar Burasheva, the pioneering Kazakhstani woman who recently scaled Mount Everest, has announced her next ambitious goal: conquering Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Russia and Europe. This follows her historic achievement as the first Kazakhstani woman to reach the summit of Everest.
Kazakh Tourism and Sports Minister Yermek Marzhikpayev recently hosted a meeting with the Kazakh Everest Team, which includes notable climbers Maksut Zhumabayev, Anar Burasheva, and Almira Kymbatbaiuly. The team gained acclaim as part of the first group of climbers to summit Everest in the 2024 season.
During the meeting, Minister Marzhikpayev expressed his admiration and congratulated the climbers for their successful ascent. He also presented them with certificates of appreciation, recognizing their efforts in advancing Kazakhstan’s reputation in the field of mountaineering and encouraging further achievements under the Kazakhstani banner.
In response, the Kazakh Everest Team shared details about their Everest expedition. Anar Burasheva outlined her ambitious plans to complete the Seven Summits, having already conquered Mount Everest in Asia and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. Her next challenge will be Mount Elbrus, standing at 5,642 meters above sea level in the Caucasus. By the end of 2025, she aims to climb the remaining peaks: Mount Aconcagua (6,962 meters) in South America, Vinson Massif (4,892 meters) in Antarctica, Denali (6,194 meters) in North America, and Puncak Jaya (4,884 meters) in Oceania.
The Kazakh Everest Team’s historic Everest summit in May 2024 has set a new benchmark for Kazakhstani climbers and continues to inspire future mountaineers in the region.
