TxDOT Organizes “Bike Roadeo” to Promote Cycling Safety Awareness

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in Wichita Falls is teaming up with the Wichita Falls/Wichita County Public Health District to host a “Bike Roadeo” as part of WFISD’s Summer Camp initiative.

Geared towards children aged 6-12, the event aims to educate participants on bicycle safety while providing free helmets to attendees from the Wichita Falls area. The initiative targets students residing near Scotland Park and neighboring areas, identified as high-risk zones for cyclists.

Led by Karel Davis, a representative from the Health District, and Tish Beaver, Traffic Safety Specialist, alongside other TxDOT staff, the program promises an interactive and educational experience. The event is scheduled for July 18th, running from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the vacant parking lot adjacent to Scotland Ball Field, located at the intersection of Louis Esquibel Ave. and N 3rd St.
