Elletta Uddin, a rising star in track and field, has consistently demonstrated her excellence at the state level. The two-time state champion in both the 100 and 300 hurdles has earned all-state honors and was named Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year by the Wisconsin Coaches Association.
Now a soon-to-be junior at Osceola High School, Uddin stepped onto the national stage by competing in the Nike Outdoor Nationals, held June 12-15 at Hayward Field, University of Oregon.
In the 400 hurdles championship, Uddin secured an impressive fourth place with a time of 59.88 seconds. The event was won by Morgan Herbst from Carlsbad, California, who clocked in at 58.22 seconds. Ella Bahn from York, Pennsylvania, finished second with a time of 58.95, while Jasmine Robinson from Kennesaw, Georgia, took third at 59.81 seconds.
Notably, all records for the event were set by Sydney McLaughlin from 2014-2017. McLaughlin, who won the 400 hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics, is aiming for another gold in Paris next month.
Uddin also reached the finals in the 100 hurdles championship, finishing seventh with a time of 13.90 seconds. The event was won by Joslyn Hamilton from Raleigh, North Carolina, who finished at 13.37 seconds. Jaden Billings from College Park, Georgia, and Anisa Bowen-Fonte from San Diego, California, followed with times of 13.63 and 13.67 seconds, respectively.
Osceola High School girls track coach, Theresa Ellefson, highlighted Uddin’s achievements, noting that her 400 hurdles time ranks in the top 20 nationally for 2024.
“Elletta is the complete package,” Ellefson remarked. “She possesses immense athletic talent, a relentless work ethic, and a fierce competitive spirit. Every accolade she has received is well-earned and deserved.”
Ellefson also praised Uddin’s qualities as a teammate, describing her as kind, caring, and dedicated to her team’s success. “She gives every last ounce of effort and is always eager to improve and accept feedback,” she added.
Uddin is also a finalist for the Wisconsin Gatorade Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year, with the winner set to be announced later this summer.
