Lowes Creek welcomes cycling enthusiasts to its newest attraction, The Adventure Playground, a beginner-friendly bike skills park located on the park’s east side. This section marks the initial phase of the broader Lowes Creek Bike Park project, which aims to create diverse recreational opportunities for the community.
Led by the local nonprofit CORBA (Community for Outdoor Recreation, Biking, and Adventure), in collaboration with groups like Eau Claire Youth Cycling and The 906 Adventure Team, the park features a variety of low-risk features designed to accommodate beginner mountain bikers. Situated behind the Expo Center off Lorch Avenue, The Adventure Playground was made possible largely by a generous anonymous donor, supplemented by contributions from the Eau Claire Parks and Forest Department and volunteer efforts to clear the area.
Scheduled to officially open on Saturday, July 13, from 9am to noon, The Adventure Playground will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by festivities including food, music, giveaways, and family-friendly activities. The park’s amenities, including picnic tables and benches, invite spectators to enjoy watching cyclists navigate roller features, berms, boardwalks, and rock gardens.
While designed primarily for mountain biking, The Adventure Playground welcomes cyclists with BMX bikes or city bikes, offering a space tailored to developing basic biking skills in a scenic outdoor setting. This section serves as a precursor to the larger west side expansion of the Lowes Creek Bike Park project, which spans approximately four acres and promises an array of additional biking features.
Whether you’re a seasoned rider or new to biking, The Adventure Playground promises an inclusive environment for all to explore and enjoy. Gear up and join the community for a day of celebration and outdoor adventure at Lowes Creek’s newest attraction.
