SilverStar Mountain Resort has marked the commencement of its 30th downhill biking season, opening its trails to enthusiasts starting Friday, June 21, 2024. With an impressive lineup, the resort boasts nearly all of its downhill trails accessible right from the start.
Visitors can enjoy extensive riding opportunities as over 90% of the downhill trails are fully operational for the opening weekend. The Comet Chair and Gondola will operate under regular hours from 10am to 5pm, with the Comet Chair offering extended hours until 7:30pm on both Friday and Saturday.
Ian Jenkins, Director of Sales, Marketing, and Events at SilverStar, expressed enthusiasm about the season ahead: “The park is looking really good. Trail Crew has been working hard this past week to clear any remaining snow patches from the bonus weekend, and we’re excited to kick off the summer with some fantastic riding.”
In a gesture of respect and gratitude, SilverStar will host a blessing ceremony performed by members of the Sylix territory on Friday morning. Jenkins emphasized the resort’s commitment to acknowledging the land’s heritage: “We acknowledge we conduct our business on unceded First Nation lands, and we do so with the utmost respect for the elders that cared for it before our time.”
The grand opening weekend features an array of exciting events including the Solstice Sips Wine Festival to celebrate the summer solstice, live performances by Vancouver blues artist Jesse Roper as part of the Summer Music Series in the Village, and screenings from the Kendal Mountain Film Festival.
