Big Sky Resort in Montana has announced the eagerly awaited opening of its downhill biking trails this Thursday, fueled by recent warm and dry weather conditions. The resort’s Explorer lift will commence operations at 10 a.m., providing access to a variety of trails including Easy Rider, Fade to Green, Fox Trot, Otter Slide, Rabbit Run, Takes Two, and Lower Tango.
Beginning Friday and continuing through September 15, the Ramcharger 8 lift will run daily, offering bikers access to Snake Charmer, Flicker, and the Mountain to Meadow Connector trails. Additionally, the Mountain to Meadow Climb is open for uphill travel, providing further access to the Mountain to Meadow trail.
Enthusiasts are encouraged to stay updated on trail conditions and additional openings throughout the summer season via the resort’s summer trail and lift report.
In conjunction with the biking season launch, Big Sky Resort has also announced several upcoming events tailored for biking enthusiasts:
- The Lone Mountain Ladies Bike Clinic, starting June 27, offers a two-day women’s bike clinic featuring skills clinics, a bike maintenance workshop, and personalized instruction by the resort’s top-notch women instructors.
- The Women’s Bike Skills Series, commencing July 12 and running on select Fridays, provides coaching from beginner to advanced levels, focusing on building confidence and refining downhill biking skills.
- Elevated Wellness activities return to the Everett’s 8800 deck on July 12, featuring spin classes by Zephyr Cycling Studio, Pilates on July 19, and yoga on July 26—all set against the stunning backdrop of Lone Peak.
- The Big Sky Biggie, a popular cross-country bike race, returns on August 17, starting from Big Sky’s Town Center and winding through scenic routes including single-track, double-track, gravel roads, and occasional paved segments.
