by Alice

Big Bear Lake, CA — After a one-year hiatus, Girlz Gone Riding (GGR) is set to host its annual three-day mountain biking event from July 27-29. Club members from GGR’s eight chapters will gather in Big Bear for an action-packed weekend, featuring rides at Snow Summit and Snow Valley on Saturday and Sunday. The event kicks off on Friday at Skypark at Santa’s Village in Skyforest, offering various riding styles including enduro, downhill, and cross-country, led by GGR volunteers. Additionally, cross-country riders can explore the popular Maple Hills trails in Big Bear on Sunday.

This event is exclusive to GGR members and boasts no registration fee, with discounted park admissions. Limited to 100 participants, spots for the women’s weekend are expected to fill up quickly.

“I couldn’t be more excited to bring this event back to one of my favorite places to ride, Big Bear. This event not only fosters a strong women’s biking community but also creates lifelong friendships, supporting our mission to get more women riding and ensuring they have a great experience every time,” said Wendy Engelberg, Director of GGR.

In addition to the rides, the social aspect of the event is a key focus. A festive taco dinner is planned for Saturday night at Bear Mountain Resort, featuring a guest speaker, awards, and plenty of stories and laughs. “This community event brings together women from all backgrounds to celebrate and discuss mountain biking,” Engelberg added.

Founded in 2010 by Wendy Engelberg with 85 Los Angeles-area members, Girlz Gone Riding has grown into one of the largest women’s mountain biking clubs in the country. Entirely volunteer-run, GGR now boasts over 4,200 members and has expanded to eight chapters: Big Bear, Central California, Inland Empire, Kern County, Los Angeles, Mojave, Orange County, and San Diego.
