Transport for London (TfL) is launching an initiative to encourage more Londoners to cycle this summer. The ‘TfL Cycle Sundays’ campaign aims to motivate people to dedicate their Sundays to cycling by offering various resources, discounts, and tips to support both new and experienced cyclists.
As part of the campaign, TfL has introduced the TfL Cycle Sundays Club on Strava, featuring a collection of easy-to-follow cycling routes. These routes span across the city and have been developed in collaboration with partners such as British Cycling, Cycle Sisters, JoyRiders, London Cycling Campaign, Sustrans, and Wheels for Wellbeing.
“We know how important it is to encourage Londoners of all backgrounds to make the most of the benefits of cycling, which is why we are delighted to be launching this exciting new programme,” said Miranda Leedham of TfL. She emphasized that participation does not require owning a bike. “With around 800 Santander Cycles docking stations across London, you can start your Sunday by hiring a bike and exploring the city.”
In addition to the cycling routes, TfL is providing a wealth of information to facilitate cycling for beginners. This includes training opportunities available through an online course and instructor-led sessions. Cyclists can also access safety tips and advice on bicycle security from the Metropolitan Police.
To further support the initiative, several cycling companies across London are offering discounts and free trials throughout the summer. These offers are available at various bike shops and cycle hire companies as part of the TfL Cycle Sundays programme.
Londoners are encouraged to take advantage of these resources and explore the city on two wheels, making the most of the summer season and the benefits of cycling.
