St Austell, Cornwall — As part of a concerted effort to promote active travel and its manifold benefits, the forthcoming B.E.A.T. (Better Engagement in Active Travelling) days are set to captivate participants with a medley of engaging activities at the St Austell Leisure Centre.
Event Schedule
Scheduled for Monday, 3rd June, and Monday, 17th June, from 10 am to 3:30 pm, these complimentary events are made possible through funding from Active Travel England and Cornwall Council. The B.E.A.T. initiative, spearheaded by the charitable social enterprise GLL, is a collaborative endeavor involving The Cornwall Bicycle Project, TRIcycle, Cornwall Life Recycle, and the St Austell Social Prescribing Team.
Activities and Workshops
Attendees can immerse themselves in an array of activities, including hands-on puncture repair workshops and both indoor and outdoor cycling opportunities. A dedicated session will also be devoted to educating participants on accessing Beryl Bikes in Cornwall. Enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their own bicycles for the ride out.
Moreover, individuals with unused bicycles in good condition can contribute to recycling efforts during the event, provided the bikes are not rusted.
Expert Insights and Health Benefits
Karen Edmond, GLL’s Community Sport Manager, underscores the manifold advantages of cycling, stating, “Cycling is a great way of keeping fit, saving money and helping the climate.”
Throughout both days, experts will be on hand to offer complimentary practical guidance on embracing active lifestyles in Cornwall, irrespective of bike ownership. The events strive to spotlight the joy and health dividends of cycling, urging individuals to traverse Cornwall’s scenic landscapes in an active and sustainable manner.
