Nepali climber Nirmal Purja, affectionately known as Nims Dai, has established a groundbreaking feat in mountaineering, setting a new record for ascending peaks surpassing 8,000 meters in elevation. On the auspicious occasion of Nepali New Year, Purja attained an extraordinary milestone by conquering an 8,000-meter summit a remarkable 44 times.
His monumental achievement occurred on Saturday, April 17th, at 12:15 PM, as he reached the pinnacle of Annapurna Himal, towering at an impressive elevation of 8,091 meters. Reflecting on his accomplishment, Purja expressed, “This achievement marks the culmination of numerous ascents above 8,000 meters.” He further remarked, “My relentless pursuit has now culminated in this remarkable record.”
Notably, Purja has exhibited unparalleled determination by repeatedly ascending all 14 peaks that stand taller than 8,000 meters, solidifying his status as a trailblazer in the realm of mountaineering.
