Surfers Brave XL Mullaghmore Swell

by Alice

After several delays, Nic von Rupp, Justine Dupont, Andrew Cotton, and other renowned surfers took advantage of the season’s largest swell at Ireland’s famed Mullaghmore.

With temperatures dipping into the mid-40s Fahrenheit and water hovering in the low 50s, the conditions at Mullaghmore were far from comfortable. However, for surfers like Nic von Rupp, these are the days they live for. “The biggest swell of the season unleashed XL Mullaghmore in full force,” Nic shared, reflecting on the long, demanding session from dawn until dusk.

Among the brave surfers battling the frigid waters were local legend Conor Maguire and UK’s Tom Lowe, who took on the challenging drop on their guns. A standout crew towed into the massive left-handers, including Justine Dupont and Andrew Cotton, while Scottish surfer Ben Larg continued to gain valuable experience at the iconic break. Meanwhile, Maverick’s regulars Luca Padua and Alo Slebir flew in from California to experience the intimidating Irish slab for the first time.
