A $60 million surf park, the first of its kind in a capital city, is set to open in London, bringing an inland surfing experience to the heart of the UK. The project, spearheaded by the creators of The Wave in Bristol, will feature cutting-edge technology from Endless Surf, the same system currently used at Munich’s new surf park, o2 SURFTOWN MUC.
Endless Surf’s innovative wave-generating technology will replace the Wavegarden Cove system used at The Wave in Bristol. Although specific images or artist renditions of the London park have not been released, the Munich facility offers a glimpse into what the new location will look like.
Hazel Geary, CEO of The Wave, explained the vision behind the project: “London has always been a key target for us. It’s a dynamic, influential city with a diverse population and strong sports culture, making it the perfect location for a surf park. We have worked closely with the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority to bring this underutilized land in the London Borough of Enfield to life.”
Geary emphasized the health and community benefits of the surf park, noting that the site will increase biodiversity and enhance green spaces. The park aims to offer the perfect wave for surfers of all abilities, with an emphasis on accessibility for the local community.
In partnership with Endless Surf, The Wave team is eager to replicate the success seen in Munich. “We are excited to deploy their technology to create waves for everyone in North London,” said Geary. “As pioneers in the surf park sector, we remain flexible in our technology choices, as different projects have unique requirements. This collaboration with Endless Surf is the perfect fit for our London project.”
This new surf park aims to provide a unique blend of technology, community engagement, and environmental sustainability, with plans to open the site to the public in the near future.
