Three-time world champion surfer Gabriel Medina is diving into the wave pool industry with his latest venture, “Beyond the Club,” located in São Paulo, Brazil. This ambitious project is not just another surf park; it’s being touted as a comprehensive “wellness club” that will offer a range of sports, luxury amenities, and a unique surf experience.
Wave pools, which have been gaining popularity globally, are quickly becoming a staple in many locations, transforming the way surfers train and enjoy the sport. Medina’s entry into this space marks a significant development, as he joins a growing list of professional surfers who are now backing artificial surf parks.
“Beyond the Club” promises to stand out as a one-of-a-kind destination. It will feature Wavegarden Cove technology, recognized for its ability to produce powerful, high-quality waves. The facility is expected to host the world’s largest and most powerful surf park, spanning 27,000 square meters and incorporating 62 modules. This technology is capable of generating up to 20 different types of waves, catering to surfers of all skill levels. With the capacity to accommodate 90 surfers per hour, the park is set to become a major attraction for enthusiasts around the world.
But the surf park is just one aspect of this expansive project. The complex will also include facilities for tennis, volleyball, basketball, and soccer, alongside a spa and multiple restaurants. For those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, there will also be a jazz bar and a winery, adding to the club’s appeal as a wellness retreat.
Medina, who has recently transitioned into entrepreneurship, spoke about the significance of this new venture. “Today is a unique moment for me. Some things happen in life that make me reflect. We don’t expect them, but it is in these moments that opportunities appear,” he said. “I am now exploring a new area as an entrepreneur, businessman, and builder of projects that align with my worldview. And this beginning is already off to a golden start: the birth of Beyond The Club, with the first beach with perfect waves in São Paulo. A complete club.”
With such an expansive offering and Medina’s star power behind it, “Beyond the Club” is poised to make waves in the Brazilian surf scene and beyond. Keep an eye out for more updates as the project develops.
