Surfing fans are in for a fresh take on the action at the Pipe Pro finals, with Red Bull and Stab teaming up to offer an alternate broadcast, set to air live on Red Bull TV on Saturday, February 8. The broadcast, dubbed Channel 51, will feature Damien Fahrenfort and Coco Ho, who promise a candid, entertaining, and informative experience.
Known for their unique perspectives, Fahrenfort—an agent for pro surfers Mikey February and Jordy Smith—and Ho, a North Shore local with deep knowledge of Pipeline’s ever-changing conditions, will offer a distinctive commentary on the competition. Their chemistry and unfiltered take on the sport will provide viewers with fresh insights, including behind-the-scenes anecdotes and possibly some interactive elements where the hosts address raw, candid questions about the World Surf League (WSL) surfers and the competition.
However, there’s a catch. The live broadcast will only be available outside the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Brazil. For viewers in these countries, the stream will be delayed, with the replay available 24 hours after the event concludes. For those determined to watch it live, using a VPN to access the stream from another country remains an option.
Fahrenfort emphasized that this alternate broadcast is not about replacing the official WSL coverage, but about providing a new perspective on the sport. “It’s not because I don’t think the WSL does a great job,” he explained to SURFER. “It’s just like in other major sports—think football in Europe or the NFL’s Manning Cast—it’s a chance to dive deeper, without the pressure to constantly call exactly what’s happening. We’ll bring in some fun guests, laugh at ourselves, and focus less on being overly professional.”
For those seeking a different vibe and a bit of humor alongside the thrilling surfing action, Channel 51 promises a refreshing new approach to the Pipe Pro finals.
