Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Parks has issued a warning regarding climbing activities to the summit of Mount Kinabalu due to adverse weather conditions.
In a recent statement, the organization cited ongoing rain, strong winds, and foggy conditions in Kinabalu Park, Ranau, as significant factors prompting the alert.
The statement highlighted reports of landslides along the summit trail at the 3.8-kilometer mark, as well as fallen trees at the 0.6 and 1.6-kilometer points.
“Given these circumstances, all climbers, mountain guides, porters, and staff are urged to exercise heightened caution during ascents to Panalaban,” the statement read.
Sabah Parks emphasized that safety monitoring and maintenance operations are being conducted regularly to ensure the well-being of all individuals on the mountain.
