Augusta National Golf Club, renowned for hosting the prestigious Masters Tournament since 1934, is currently assessing the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in Florida last Friday as a Category 4 storm before weakening into a tropical depression as it moved into Georgia.

Club chairman Fred Ridley released a statement acknowledging the severe impact on the Augusta community. “Our Augusta community has suffered catastrophic and historic impact from Hurricane Helene,” he stated, emphasizing that the club is still evaluating the extent of the damage.

Ridley noted that the club’s primary focus is on supporting staff, local residents, and business owners affected by the storm. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them, as well as everyone throughout Georgia and the Southeast who have been affected,” he added.

The storm, which struck Augusta directly, resulted in widespread devastation across the region, claiming at least 44 lives and generating sustained winds exceeding 140 mph. While reports indicate significant damage to neighborhoods surrounding the golf course, the club has yet to specify the extent of the damage to its facilities.

The next Masters Tournament is scheduled for April 9-13, 2025, as the club continues to monitor recovery efforts in the wake of the storm.
